The significance of the Catalog of the Escorial
Library lies in the fame and importance of its Arabic manuscript content,
though what was published does not exceed a small number of the Escorial
collections. Some of the reviewed Arabic manuscripts are exceptionally
rare, since they are the only surviving copies all over the world, such
as the autograph of Lubāb al-Muhassil written by the eminent savant Ibn
Khaldūn in 752 AH. in Maghribi script.
